I am so lucky!
I work for a company who has the most beautiful grounds surrounding it. The landscape is so well laid out, so beautifully planted and so well maintained; I can only describe it as a park. It even smells like a park! Pine trees, native grasses, and wildflowers line the winding pathways. All are surrounded by strategically placed, native granite boulders and a beautiful rock lined creek bed.
This is a wonderful and incredibly inviting outdoor feature; a gift for myself and my co-workers to enjoy daily. Exercising, de-stressing, and enjoying a moment of beauty is something everyone at our company really enjoys. A truly great way to utilize breaks and lunches!
I want to share one of my favorite things when I walk the pathway; the Wild Mexican Hat Flowers aka The Wild Colorado Coneflower. They are the cutest little flowers; bringing a joyful little dot of color and whimsy to the landscape and my walks!
The bright yellow petals and the brown dotted “cone” that can rise up to 2 inches above the petals are adorable. I know, I know! Get your mind out of the gutter! These little darlings stand firm in the very hot sun and dry terrain with ease. I love that our landscape company leaves them to grow as nature intended.
While these little gems are naturalized in our landscape, you can purchase them in most nurseries for your yard. They will grow well once established in those dry, unforgiving areas of your yard. As for me, I will continue to admire them on my walks! Lucky me!
